Spyro: A Realm Beyond

Activision has announced a new Spyro game–Spyro: A Realm Beyond. The release date hasn't been announced yet, but the Steam page and cinematic trailer of the upcoming game are already available. Plot details are still pending, but it is known that a slightly older Spyro will be able to fly fully and explore the open world.

From the developers:

"When Spyro finds himself stranded, his journey to discover a way home is interrupted by the arrival of a vicious invading force known as the Scavs. Spyro must make new allies and rise to protect this realm before it’s changed forever.

Feel the freedom of flight as you soar above vibrant landscapes, weave between treetops, dive off massive landmarks and wing your way through this new realm in Spyro's boldest evolution yet".

Spyro: A Realm Beyond is being produced by Toys for Bob, the same studio that previously created the remake of the classic Spyro trilogy and the fourth installment of Crash Bandicoot's adventures. As a reminder, the first Spyro games, developed by Insomniac Games, were released on PlayStation and, along with Crash Bandicoot, became the console's and genre's hallmark at the time. In the years since, various sequels and reboots of the franchise have appeared, but ultimately, the publisher has returned to the original concept of the character and the game's universe. This was largely due to the continued existence of a huge community of classic Spyro fans around the world.
